Stewardship Bulletin Message
March 30th 2nd Sunday of Easter
Jesus meets the need of each disciple. To the fearful in the upper room, He speaks words of peace. To the doubting Thomas, He provides tangible proof of His resurrection. What do you need to be a disciple of Jesus? What do you have to share that might draw someone else into becoming a disciple of Jesus? We are all packing a suitcase for a place that has to be believed to be seen. So pack lightly, you can’t take it with you!
“Happy is the one who shall dwell under the shelter of these rays, for the just hand of God shall not lay hold of him. The two rays symbolize the blood and water which poured forth from the depths of my mercy when my agonized heart was pierced by a lance on the cross.” (Our Lord to St. Faustina)

IN TODAY’S LITURGY
This Is The Day The Lord Has Made
We're still awash in the afterglow of Easter. Christ is truly risen. But now, we face a dilemma. As the joy of the holiday wears thin, what do we do now? The feeling might fade, but we are challenged to help the gift of the Spirit take root. We are to be at peace, to live with love, and place our entire lives in the hands of God.
FEAST OF THE ANNUNCIATION With Easter so early this year, the normal celebration of this feast was postponed until March 31.
FIRST READING The book of Acts presented an ideal vision of Christian community. The community grew based upon the signs and wonders of the apostles, but, more importantly, it grew because of the charity, a real Christian concern for others. How do we communicate our love to others? PSALM Psalm 118 was a hymn of praise for the activity of God in the life of the nation. The song evoked the name of YHWH many times as a reminder that the Lord does directly intervene in life. It is a song to be sung especially on those days when we can truly say, “This is the day the Lord made. Let's rejoice and be glad!”
SECOND READING In the first letter of Peter, the author argued for a quality of faith that overcame oppression. Real Christian faith is tested in fire and still looks forward to the glory of heaven. How do we strive to develop such a faith?
GOSPEL In the gospel of John, the risen Lord greeted his disciples with peace. This peace was more than an absence of strife or emotive calm. It was the gift of a relationship with the Father. It was the gift of the Spirit
When Jesus appeared to his followers on Easter evening, he breathed the Spirit on them. He gave his followers the Spirit for a reason. Jesus wants all his followers to serve others and spread the Good News. Jesus shares the qualities and the comforts of the Spirit with his followers.
Gifts of the Spirit: The Qualities of the Spirit-Driven Life
How do we know the Spirit is active in our lives? To answer that question, let’s look at the work of the Spirit in the life of Jesus. Isaiah the prophet said:
Like a branch that sprouts from a stump, someone from David’s family will someday be king. The Spirit of the Lord will be with him to give him understanding, wisdom, and insight. He will be powerful, and he will know and honour the Lord. His greatest joy will be to obey the Lord. Isaiah 11:2-3 (CEV)
The Fruits of the Spirit: The Rewards of Life in the Spirit.
The fruits of the Spirit are love and joy, peace and patience, kindness and goodness, trust in God, a gentle spirit, a strong character. Based on Galatians 5:22-23
When we live in the Spirit and exercise his gifts, we enjoy the benefits of God in our lives. We love more. We are more joy-filled and have more patience. We are at peace with ourselves and with others. We trust God more and more. We have the strength of character to truly enjoy the good times and live through the bad times.
When Jesus gave us the Spirit, he gave us the power to come closer to God and help others. With that power comes benefits that make our lives better. Life in the Spirit means the gifts of the Spirit are active in our lives. Life in the Spirit means we enjoy the fruits of the Spirit everyday.
MARY'S 'YES' DAY: SOLEMN FEAST OF THE ANUNCIATION MON. MAR.31: This feast commemorates the Visitation of the Archangel Gabriel to Mary petitioning of her to be a mother so that the Son of God could be born in human form through her. And Mary said: let it be done to me according to your word, and with that the Word of God was made Flesh.
Congratulations to the ladies of the CWA, who put together another splendid St. Patrick’s Day Tea! They wish to express their thanks and gratitude to all the parishioners who brought in goodies for the bake sale table and who came to the tea, making it such a great success. The day was enjoyed by all!
